ABOUT
I’m Dan Cunneen, an artist and creator exploring music, design, and writing. Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, my work is driven by soul, grit, and a punk rock ethos.
Music
My musical journey began in Portland, Oregon, where I played drums for the hardcore punk band Final Warning. After that, I performed with singer-songwriter Lew Jones and had a stint with the blues-infused punk rock band Obituaries. In 1991, I moved to Seattle and co-founded the grunge-era punk band Zipgun. Later, I led the lounge and soul band Nightcaps, among others.
Today, I’m the lead vocalist and percussionist for Roxbury Saints. We blend rock, blues, country, and soul into a raw, authentic sound, drawing inspiration from swamp rock to torch songs.
Design
My love of design and art began as a kid, inspired by Charles M. Schulz and Peanuts.
The seemingly simple art and colors, hand-drawn captions, and the iconic Peanuts logo captivated me. That early fascination with visual storytelling eventually led me to briefly study art and graphic design at Portland State University.
After leaving PSU to play drums in a punk band, my design career began in true DIY fashion—creating posters, promotional materials, and album covers for my bands. Over time, I expanded my work to include projects for other musicians and clients.
In 2015, I launched ORANJ Printing and Design, an artisan printing company specializing in T-shirts, tote bags, and other merchandise inspired by vintage rock ‘n’ roll and hyper-local themes. ORANJ blends bold aesthetics, irreverent humor, and a deep love for West Seattle and White Center, crafting designs for people who value individuality and a touch of nostalgia.
Writing
I write songs and tell stories about longing, defiance, and connection. My lyrics lean on honesty and wit, while my blog posts and reflections dig into life’s quirks—and the occasional questionable adventure.
Whether it’s a song, a story, or just putting thoughts to paper,my goal is to create something real that resonates.
Take a look around—I hope my work strikes a chord with you!
